Swedish Modern

Modernism is a movement within architecture that emerged in the 1920s. This ideology was dominant in architecture and urban planning for most of the 20th century. The movement comprises several different styles, including functionalism, brutalism and high tech architecture. Modernism is characterized by a stripped-down and geometrically simple architecture, free from ornaments since it is the actual forms and construction that stand for the architectural and artistic value. This masterpiece of over 700 pages consists of a longer text by Hedvig Hedqvist and hundreds of photographs of architecture, design, crafts, and furniture. In 2017 the book Swedish Grace was published, which dealt with Swedish 1920s classicism. Swedish Modern takes over where Swedish Grace ended.
